Since April 5, 2015, the EU has stipulated complete traceability for all stored and used explosives in Directives 2008/43/EC and 2012/4/EU. With the Ontaris explosives stock ledger , you not only implement these requirements effortlessly, you also enjoy the full convenience of a modern, electronic stock ledger. Simple, efficient and legally compliant.
The Ontaris explosives stock book was developed in close cooperation with well-known companies from the field – directly from everyday requirements. The result: a user-friendly system with intuitive touch operation. The robust hardware consists of a handy 10.1″ tablet (protection class IP65) and a powerful Bluetooth scanner (protection class IP67) – perfect for use in demanding conditions.
Our software is continuously being developed in direct dialog with our customers. This ensures that the system is always at the cutting edge of technology and practice.
New: Version 2.0
The Explosives Stock Book was developed from scratch in 2014. Since then, we have been in permanent dialog with our customers in order to continuously develop and optimize our solution, driven by practical requirements. In 2023, we completely overhauled the software in terms of both content and technology, making it more efficient in many areas. The result is version 2.0, with improvements in the following areas:

Anyone who uses explosives commercially, wants to safely comply with legal requirements and at the same time benefit from the advantages of digital stock ledger management is well advised to use this system.
The system is compatible with all common solutions on the market and can easily read XML files – for maximum flexibility in everyday use.
Stock Book for Dealers & Service Providers
The Ontaris explosives stock book for dealers & service providers offers all the functions you need for the professional handling of explosives. Whether trade or service, this version can also be used to process blasting services conveniently and efficiently. Among other things, it enables the dispatch of explosives including XML files, the simple booking back of returns, the quick creation of new packaging units and the preparation of orders. Picklists can be used directly in conjunction with your ERP system for smooth processes and maximum practical relevance.
Stock Book for Manufacturer
The Ontaris explosives stock ledger for manufacturers is specially designed to meet two key requirements: the simple and error-free recording of explosives, detonators and similar components produced and the efficient processing of large delivery quantities in incoming and outgoing goods with quantities of 200,000 and more. In production, the recording is guided and reliable across several packaging levels. The recorded items are then assigned to the corresponding bunkers via logistics and can finally be delivered to the customer with an XML file.
Explosives Ordnance Stock Book
The stock book for explosive ordnance disposal companies is specially designed for use in explosive ordnance clearance, with a particular focus on the disposal and destruction of explosive ordnance. Bulk material and small ammunition can be easily recorded by quantity, while larger ammunition can be documented individually. The system seamlessly maps the entire process – from recording the find to interim storage and the final destruction of the explosive ordnance.
Stock Book for Powder Dealers
The stock book for NC and black powder is the perfect solution for smaller powder dealers who trade in black powder or NC powder. It can be used flexibly both stationary and mobile. The software is installed on an existing PC or laptop and supplied together with a powerful 2D barcode scanner. The result is a simple, practical solution for safe and legally compliant handling in the powder trade.

Zement- und Kalkwerke Otterbein
First Pilot Operation in Germany
Since mid-June 2014, the company “Zement- und Kalkwerke Otterbein GmbH & Co. KG” is in the practical testing phase of the Ontaris Explosives Stock Book. In close cooperation with MAXAM, Otterbein is the first company in Germany that has adopted Track and Trace with electronic stock accounting in its regular operations.
Wanted: Simple and clear solution
Today, Otterbein extracts almost 500,000 tons of limestone every year. To enable this production, blasting is carried out every 2-3 days. Thus, the new EU directive for the labeling and tracing of explosives also applies to Otterbein Cement and Lime Works.

A practical report – six months after introduction
It is 7 o’clock in the morning. A beautiful autumn day announces itself. A truck with a delivery of explosives is parked in the yard. The explosives will be unloaded by the forklift and transferred to the bucket of the wheel loader, which will then take them to the blasting site.
Incoming goods: quick and easy
Alfons Planken, the blasting foreman in charge at SHI (Sauerländer Hartkalkstein-Industrie GmbH) in Bad Wünnenberg, checks the delivery during the process. Using the delivery note, he goes through the individual items and checks them off. This is routine; for years, every delivery has been received and checked by him in this way. The fact that he now takes a robust tablet computer with a small scanner and uses it to check the goods has been new since April.
