6th eKWB user meeting in Ingolstadt

On November 10 and 11, 2025, we welcomed numerous users to this year’s eKWB user meeting in Ingolstadt. Over 50 participants from almost 40 companies took part in the 2-day event. Together with the Bavarian Army Museum, we were offered a venue that made history tangible and at the same time created a special setting for exchange, dialog and new impulses. Right from the start, it was clear that the focus was on one thing in particular in addition to technical topics: personal interaction.

Exchange that connects

The first day of the event began with many discussions even before the official start. The subsequent presentations focused on current topics relating to compliance, the eKWB and its additional modules. The focus was not only on functions and processes, but above all on the question of how the eKWB can best support users in their day-to-day work.

The exchange was particularly lively during the practical report on the BAFA external audit. The open discussion showed how valuable it is to share experiences, openly address challenges and learn from each other. Many contributions from the participants made it clear that practice is often more complex than any theory – and that this is precisely where the added value of a user meeting lies.

The presentation on licensing aspects of the export of portable war weapons was also met with great interest. The presentation made it clear how much uncertainty and need for interpretation there is in the interaction between the War Weapons Control Act, the Weapons Act and the Foreign Trade and Payments Act in everyday working life. The high level of attention during the presentation and the numerous questions and discussions afterwards showed how great the need is for clear classification, practical guidance and legal certainty in this challenging environment.

In the afternoon, the focus shifted more towards the future. Best practice examples from the eKWB application and the interactive session on the further development of the eKWB 3.0 made it clear that the system is not only being further developed for users, but together with them. The numerous suggestions, questions and ideas impressively demonstrated how intensively the eKWB is used on a daily basis and the central role it plays in the war weapons control of individual companies.

The evening together was an atmospheric conclusion to the first day of the event. In a relaxed atmosphere over dinner, the professional exchange continued on a personal level. Away from the lecture agenda, discussions were held in which experiences were shared, perspectives broadened and contacts made. Existing networks were deepened and new connections created, with a great deal of openness and mutual interest.

Experience history

The second day of the event took participants to the exhibitions at the Bavarian Army Museum. The exclusive guided tours offered impressive insights into military history and at the same time created space for discussions in an extraordinary environment.

Many participants found this combination of professional exchange and historical context particularly inspiring. The discussions continued, often with new perspectives and far removed from the traditional conference setting.
